Sharing a true passion and love for historical landmarks, it was quite evident that our wedding reception be held in one of the gold coast mansions. The Delano Mansion at The Woodlands at Woodbury, is set in the heart of 120 manicured acres in Woodbury, Long Island. From the black and white checkered marble tile in the entrance way to the cozy fireplaces, the ambiance for our wedding was simply perfect.
I had the true bridal experience at Kleinfelds in Manhattan where I found my gown which was an A-line, lace underlay with beautiful subtle beadwork throughout the dress. I wore a traditional cathedral length veil that was stunning and elegant.
Our wedding was on a gorgeous 70 degrees Fall day in September when the leaves had just started to turn. To keep the antique and vintage feel for the theme of our wedding we brought our own unique style for the decor. Our thoughts were not to go the traditional route of Fall wedding colors but still keep the colors at a darker pallet. The colors of our wedding were inspired by the beautiful colors of the peacock using dark rich teals, gold, green and hints of purple while still keeping the Fall feel.
Small mercury candles and tall frosted hurricane glasses filled each room with a perfect glow. Each table included a gold plate with shimmer teal numbers set on gold stands. Our favorite piece were our place cards; each guest name and table number were hand written in beautiful calligraphy with teal satin ribbon holding different style skeleton keys. It truly captured the essence and touch of the 1920s mansion.
